Sage Toews
Student, Agricultural Economics and Global Food Systems Leadership
Growing up immersed in food and agriculture in rural central Kansas, I have always had a deep passion for the industry, yet I initially struggled to find a clear path. It wasn’t until I became involved in high school agricultural education and FFA that I began to realize the potential of a career in food and agricultural policy. Now, as a student at Kansas State University, my experience as a Flinchbaugh Food and Agricultural Policy Fellow has allowed me to see my hands-on agricultural experiences apply directly to policy. Through this fellowship, I’ve gained invaluable exposure to the legislative process and lobbying efforts. The legacy of Dr. Flinchbaugh, embodied through this fellowship, has given me access to a seat at the table where I can learn and grow in ways I never thought possible.
