Adelaide Easter
B.S. Agricultural Economics; Secondary Major: Global Food Systems Leadership; Minor: Leadership Studies; Minor: International Agriculture
Adelaide is currently a junior at K-State. This fellowship experience gave her greater understanding of how lobbying for a commodity group works. With Kansas Grain Sorghum and National Sorghum Producers, she had the opportunity to advocate for sorghum farmers at the Kansas State Capitol and was mentored in preparation for her internship in Washington, D.C. While working for Senator Jerry Moran, Adelaide was able to attend meetings with constituents, draft letter responses, write memorandums and policy briefs, and draft legislation to be read on the Senate floor! She decided to apply for the Flinchbaugh Fellowship after hearing about it from an alum of the program. Adelaide says “This experience was a fantastic way to find what policy issues I am passionate about and helped clarify that I want to have a career in food and ag policy.”
